Room for every kid

New game.
Zero pressure.

We make the first step easy. No tryouts or cuts. Just a community clinic where kids learn by playing, at their own pace.

01 / JUMP RIGHT IN

Never played? Perfect.

We start with the basics: scooping, cradling, passing, and catching. Every skill is a chance to try something new.

02 / MORE TIME PLAYING

Small games. Big grins.

Short stations and 3v3 or 4v4 games keep kids involved. More touches, less standing in line.

03 / A WARM WELCOME

Bring your curiosity.

Sliding-scale cost and loaner sticks help families join in. No child is turned away for cost or lack of a stick.

Their first day on the field

A little learning.
A whole lot of play.

Sessions run 90–120 minutes, with plenty of chances to move, learn, and meet other kids.

Coach Hickey brings experience playing high school, college, and club lacrosse, plus years of youth and high school coaching, including at Laxachusetts.

Session dates, times, and the number of sessions are still being finalized.

  1. Arrive & settle in

Meet the coaches, check sticks, and start with free play.

  2. Warm up with a game

Get moving together and shake off those first-day nerves.

  3. Try the fundamentals

Rotate through short skill stations in small groups.

  4. Put it all into play

Small-sided games, then one last group game to finish.

Keep the gear bag light

A stick. Some water.
A ready-to-play kid.

  • A lacrosse stick, if you have one
  • A filled water bottle
  • Sneakers or cleats and comfortable clothes

Need a stick? Request a loaner in the signup form so we can plan for your child.

Soft training balls, every time.

We use Swax Lax soft training balls throughout the clinic and never switch to regulation hard balls. Please leave hard balls at home. Like any active sport, lacrosse still carries a risk of injury; the waiver explains those risks.

A community game

Less of a barrier.
More of a beginning.

Rivertown Lacrosse runs at cost. Families contribute on a sliding scale to help cover balls, cones, pinnies, and loaner sticks.

This introductory clinic is a first step into the sport. When kids want more, we're happy to help them find established local programs.

Every kid deserves a chance to play.

No child is turned away because a family can't afford to pay.

The season's price range is still being finalized. Signing up does not commit you to a payment.

For the grown-ups

A few good
questions.

Starting a new sport should feel easy. Here's what to know before your first visit.

My child has never played. Is that okay?

Absolutely. The clinic is built for complete beginners. Kids with experience are welcome too, with the pace set for children learning the game.

Can I register siblings together?

Yes. Add up to eight children to one family registration. You enter your own details once, and a separate signed waiver is saved for each child.

When does the season start?

Fall dates, session count, and day and time are still being finalized. We'll share the confirmed schedule before sessions begin.

How does the online waiver work?

Read the waiver during signup, confirm each acknowledgment, type your full legal name, and draw your signature using your finger or mouse. After successful registration, download a signed copy for your records. The coach also has a saved copy.

Will photos of my child be shared?

Only with your permission. Photo consent is optional and chosen separately for each child. Declining has no effect on participation.

Can parents help?

Yes! Let us know you're interested in volunteering on the registration form. Lacrosse experience isn't needed for every role.
